Metadata & Release Guidelines

The Octodistro · Last Updated: February 26, 2025

To maintain high distribution quality and prevent rejection from digital platforms, all releases submitted to Octodistro must follow strict metadata and content guidelines. Failure to follow these rules may result in release rejection or removal.

1. Release Titles

Release titles must: accurately represent the content; avoid excessive capitalization; avoid promotional phrases.

Examples of prohibited titles:

  • “BEST SONG EVER 2026”
  • “STREAM THIS NOW!!!”
  • “Official Viral Hit”

2. Artist Names

Artist names must reflect the actual performing artist. Users may not: upload music under another artist’s name; use famous artist names to attract listeners; create misleading collaborations.

Example violation: Using the name of Drake or Burna Boy when they are not part of the release.

3. Featured Artists

Featured artists must: have participated in the recording; be credited correctly in metadata; not be used for promotional purposes without involvement.

4. Cover Artwork

All cover artwork must meet the following requirements: minimum 3000 × 3000 pixels; square format; high-resolution image; no blurriness or pixelation.

Artwork must not contain: streaming platform logos; pricing information; social media links; offensive or illegal imagery.

5. Audio Quality Requirements

Audio files must meet professional standards. Accepted format: WAV format; minimum 16-bit / 44.1 kHz. Audio must not contain: distortion; clipping; silence padding; poor mastering quality.

6. Music Videos

For video distribution, files must: be high resolution (HD or higher); match the official audio recording; contain synchronized visuals. Videos must not contain copyrighted material without permission.

7. Language and Explicit Content

Artists must correctly mark releases containing explicit language. Failure to correctly mark explicit content may result in store rejection.

8. Release Date Requirements

Releases should be submitted at least 7–14 days before the intended release date to ensure delivery to platforms on time. Late submissions may miss the release schedule.

9. Right to Reject Content

Octodistro reserves the right to reject releases that: violate platform guidelines; contain misleading metadata; include unauthorized samples; do not meet quality standards.

10. Updates to Guidelines

These guidelines may be updated to comply with evolving requirements from digital platforms. Artists are responsible for following the most recent version.
